Introduction of Queue Management System at Songpa-gu Taxation Division 1 Civil Service Office
Simultaneous Provision of Resident Convenience and One-Stop Tax Services
[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Songpa-gu (Mayor Park Seong-su) has introduced a queue waiting system to reduce the inconvenience experienced by residents when issuing real estate acquisition tax and registration license tax (registration), and has started operating the Taxation Division 1 civil service office.
The taxation civil service office was narrow, making social distancing difficult, and due to confusion among taxpayers depending on the tax item, the order was changed and waiting times increased, so improvement was needed.
In particular, following the amendment of the Private Rental Housing Special Act in December last year, the mandatory sub-registration of registered rental housing caused a surge in on-site registration license tax (registration) reports, along with an increase in rental housing property tax and acquisition tax consultation civil complaints, which intensified the inconvenience.
Also, as real estate acquisition tax and property tax are becoming increasingly complex, when consultation is needed, taxpayers can predict waiting times, and it is expected that the appropriate dispersion of civil complaints will improve the quality of administrative services.
Park Seong-su, Mayor of Songpa-gu, said, “We will continuously improve inconveniences so that residents can visit the district office with peace of mind amid the surge in tax civil complaints,” and added, “From tax consultations such as real estate acquisition tax and property tax to reporting, we will provide seamless tax administration services from the residents’ perspective.”
