Water Level Rise Inside Fukushima Nuclear Plant Unit 3 Building... Tokyo Electric Power Company "Investigating Cause"
[Asia Economy Reporter Kwon Jae-hee] NHK reported on the 11th that the water level inside the reactor building of Unit 3 at the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant in Japan, where a radioactive material leak accident occurred in March 2011, has risen.
According to the report, Tokyo Electric Power Company (TEPCO) stated that the water level in a space called the "Triangle Corner" on the first basement floor of the Unit 3 reactor building began to rise from the morning of the 9th, and as of 9 a.m. on the 10th, it had increased by about 18 cm.
TEPCO is investigating the cause of the water level rise, including whether it is related to the magnitude 7.3 earthquake that occurred off the coast of Fukushima Prefecture on the 13th of last month.
They also plan to use pumps to transfer this water to other areas within the reactor building.
