Gangjin-gun Conducts Nationwide Crackdown for Healthy Distribution of Gangjin Love Gift Certificates
Monitoring and Inspection of Gift Certificate Distribution Process Until the 31st
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Yong-su] Gangjin-gun, Jeollanam-do announced on the 11th that it will conduct a comprehensive crackdown to ensure the proper use of the ‘Gangjin Sarang Gift Certificate’ and to further maximize the effect of revitalizing the local economy.
The crackdown, which will be conducted until the 31st, will proceed by pre-analyzing data such as payment records by affiliated stores in the integrated gift certificate management system and resident reports, then visiting the target stores on-site to verify any illegal distribution.
The main types of violations targeted include operating restricted businesses such as gambling, receiving gift certificates without providing goods or services, accepting gift certificates exceeding the actual transaction amount, exchanging fraudulently obtained gift certificates, refusing gift certificate payments, or demanding additional charges.
If such violations are found during this crackdown, fines of up to 20 million KRW will be imposed according to the Act on the Activation of Local Love Gift Certificates.
Additionally, those who refuse or obstruct investigations into legal violations will be fined up to 5 million KRW, and in severe cases, further measures such as requesting investigations will be taken.
County Governor Lee Seung-ok stated, “Through systematic management of the Gangjin Sarang Gift Certificate and establishment of distribution order, we will strongly respond to illegal distribution activities to not only revitalize the local economy but also provide practical help to small business owners,” adding, “Active cooperation from residents and small business owners is necessary to overcome the COVID-19 crisis and revive the local economy.”
