'Weekend 1-2 Hours' Chronic Exit Delay Resolved at Suwon Gwanggyo Lake Park Public Parking Lot
[Asia Economy (Suwon) = Reporter Lee Young-gyu] The chronic exit delay problem at the Gwanggyo Lake Park Woncheon Lake Public Parking Lot in Suwon, Gyeonggi Province has been resolved.
On the 11th, Suwon City announced that through continuous consultations with related organizations, it changed the exit method to allow vehicles using the public parking lot to leave the parking lot more smoothly than before.
The public parking lot experienced severe vehicle congestion due to a large number of vehicles, averaging over 2,200 on weekends, and short signal times, causing citizens' inconvenience to peak as it took 1 to 2 hours just to exit the parking lot.
Accordingly, Suwon City held several consultations with Suwon Urban Corporation and the local police station to find a solution to improve the exit problem of the public parking lot.
The signal system and exit method were changed to allow only right-turn exits, and for vehicles heading toward Heungdeok District or Yeonhwajang, a new lane was created to allow a U-turn about 500 meters ahead at the Maewon Elementary School intersection after turning right.
After changing the exit method, the flow improved so much that vehicles using the Woncheon Lake Public Parking Lot took less than 10 minutes from unmanned payment to exit.
