Nominations Open for the 29th Gwanak District Residents' Award

[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Gwanak-gu (Mayor Park Jun-hee) is accepting nominations for the ‘Gwanak Resident Award’ until the 31st to discover and express gratitude to proud volunteers who have worked hard for regional development and the welfare of residents.
The ‘Gwanak Resident Award’ is given to exemplary residents of Gwanak-gu who have contributed to fostering a healthy civic lifestyle and creating a better hometown, marking its 29th year this year.
The award categories include ▲filial piety ▲welfare ▲volunteering ▲education ▲culture & arts ▲environment ▲safety, totaling seven fields.
As of the award date (May 1), individuals or organizations who have resided or been active in Gwanak-gu for more than three years and have made special contributions will be selected, with one recipient (or organization) chosen per category, totaling seven awardees.
Candidates can be recommended by heads of related institutions and organizations located in Gwanak-gu, school principals, or by more than 30 residents of Gwanak-gu.
To recommend, the recommender (or representative) must submit the nominee’s recommendation letter, record of achievements, consent form for collection and use of personal information, and supporting documents to the local community service center of the nominee’s residence either in person or by mail.
The final awardees will be selected after fact-checking of achievements and deliberation by the award review committee, with the award ceremony scheduled to be held in May.
Mayor Park Jun-hee said, “We want to express our gratitude to the residents who have shown interest in local administration and dedicated themselves throughout the region to create a united and outstanding Gwanak-gu,” adding, “We ask for the continued interest of all residents so that hidden residents who selflessly serve and volunteer behind the scenes can be discovered for the healthy development of our local community.”
