NC and Netmarble End 'Equity Alliance' After 6 Years
[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Gwan-joo] The "equity alliance" formed between NCSoft and Netmarble in 2015 has ended after more than six years.
Netmarble announced on the 10th that the shareholder agreement applying to NCSoft's 6.8% stake in Netmarble was terminated as of the 3rd.
Previously, in 2015, the two companies signed an agreement to exchange shares, with NCSoft acquiring 9.8% of Netmarble's new shares and Netmarble acquiring 8.9% of NCSoft's shares.
In this process, the two companies established a shareholder cooperation obligation, becoming special related parties and agreeing to exercise joint voting rights. At the time, it was analyzed that NCSoft partnered with Netmarble because it needed friendly shares to counter Nexon's management rights threat.
