Dongshin University College of Korean Medicine Selected for 3 Government-Supported Basic Research Projects
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Gwan-woo] The College of Korean Medicine at Dongshin University announced on the 10th that it was selected for three new projects in the '2021 First Half Government-Supported Basic Research Project.'
The Basic Research Project is a government-implemented initiative aimed at nurturing excellent researchers and expanding the research foundation, led by the Ministry of Science and ICT and supported by the National Research Foundation of Korea.
Professor Kim Jae-hong of the College of Korean Medicine was selected for Mid-Career Research Type 1-2, Professor Lee Soong-in for Mid-Career Research Type 1-1, and Professor Yang Ji-hye for Excellent New Research.
Professor Kim will receive a budget of 900 million KRW over five years to conduct research under the theme "Exploration of Cognitive Improvement Effects and Therapeutic Mechanisms of Duchim and Cheonwangbosimdan through Gut Microbiota Regulation."
Professor Lee will conduct a study on "Glycyrrhiza Health Decoction and Modified Formulations Using Anorexia Animal Pathological Models," supported by 260 million KRW over three years.
Professor Yang, receiving 330 million KRW over three years, will research novel drug target molecules that control severe liver damage caused by chronic excessive intake of alcohol and iron, and conduct preclinical studies to discover herbal medicine formulations that can inhibit the progression to chronic liver disease.

Jo Myung-rae, Dean of the College of Korean Medicine at Dongshin University, stated, "Through this research, we expect to establish scientific evidence for Korean medicine treatments for various intractable diseases, contributing to the scientification and objectification of Korean medicine as well as the promotion of public health."
