Imsil-gun Goes All Out in Bidding for Osu Flood and Water Disaster Living Zone Improvement Project
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Nosik] Imsil-gun, Jeonbuk announced on the 10th that it is making every effort to be selected for the Osu-myeon Flood and Water Disaster Living Zone Maintenance Project contest.
The Flood and Water Disaster Living Zone Maintenance Project is a comprehensive maintenance project that improves the existing fragmented investment method focused on individual projects by each ministry such as the Ministry of the Interior and Safety, the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, and the Ministry of Environment into a region-based living zone-centered approach.
It is a key policy project of the Ministry of the Interior and Safety that can maximize the effect of investment in disaster prevention projects by systematic construction promotion as well as reducing construction period and project costs.
This year’s Flood and Water Disaster Living Zone Maintenance contest will finalize the contest plan next month, and the final selection will be made through document screening and on-site evaluation in three rounds in June.
Previously, in 2018, the county’s Imsil district Flood and Water Disaster Living Zone Maintenance Project was selected as one of five nationwide pilot districts for the first time in the province and is being normally promoted with the goal of completion in 2024.
The Imsil district Flood and Water Disaster Living Zone Maintenance Project plans to start construction within the first half of this year through detailed design.
To respond to this year’s contest, the county is discovering target project sites focusing on areas with flood risk due to inland flooding and river overflow in the Osu-myeon area, which was newly designated in 2021, and urgently needing maintenance of stormwater drainage pipes and areas, based on the comprehensive natural disaster reduction plan established in advance, and has started and is conducting feasibility studies.
Recently, it plans to carefully check and supplement the project by receiving pre-consulting conducted by Jeonbuk Province.
The contest project site, Osu-ri area in Osu-myeon, is an upstream area where Osucheon and Dunnamcheon streams converge, and last year during the rainy season, flooding damage occurred in low-lying residential areas and farmland.
It is considered a suitable site for the contest project as it is an area with a constant risk of inland flooding in low-lying areas during heavy rain caused by abnormal weather.
County Governor Sim Min also, considering the importance of this project, conducted an on-site inspection of disaster risk sites for flood disaster preparedness on the 8th and took preemptive disaster prevention measures for the Osu-ri area in Osu-myeon, where damage occurs due to river overflow and habitual flooding during heavy rainfall.
