[Sejong=Asia Economy Reporter Kwon Haeyoung] The Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy announced on the 10th that it will invest a total of 186.8 billion KRW this year in the 'Industrial Innovation Infrastructure Construction Project' for carbon neutrality and industrial digital transformation.
This project supports the establishment of facilities and equipment in core industrial technology fields that can be jointly utilized by industry, academia, and research institutes. The Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy announced 32 new tasks within the Industrial Innovation Infrastructure Construction Project and will recruit and select research and development institutions by April.
This year's new projects will focus on areas with significant technological and economic ripple effects, such as localization in the materials and components sector, fostering future new industries, and national strategic industries, effectively supporting the technological innovation of domestic companies.
The Ministry will also promote the 'Industrial Innovation Technology Support Platform' project from this year to facilitate linkage and utilization among infrastructures established through the infrastructure construction project. Institutions nationwide possessing industrial technology development equipment under the Ministry will be linked and operated by six major sectors. Within the consortium providing linkage services, only necessary equipment such as outdated or aged equipment will be supported for upgrades.
