Incheon Namdong National Industrial Complex, Promoting Future-Oriented Industrial Complex with 'Industrial Culture Space Creation'
Namdong-gu Holds Preliminary Briefing on Interim Report Meeting for Research Project
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Hyesook] The Namdong National Industrial Complex in Incheon is expected to shed its outdated image and be reborn as a future-oriented industrial complex where industry and culture harmonize.
Namdong-gu announced on the 9th that it held a preliminary briefing session on the 'Mid-term Report Meeting for the Namdong Industrial Complex Industrial Culture Renovation Research Project' on the 8th in collaboration with the Incheon Technopark Environmental Design Center.
This project is a research strategy development initiative to transform the Namdong National Industrial Complex into an industrial cultural space under the theme "Business space by day, industrial cultural space by night."
The preliminary briefing session was organized to explore mutual cooperation measures between Namdong-gu, where the Namdong National Industrial Complex is located, ahead of the mid-term report meeting for the development research project scheduled for the 11th.
Oh Yuseon, head of the Incheon Technopark Environmental Design Center, explained, "We promoted the research project for the Namdong Industrial Complex industrial culture renovation with the vision of creating a domestic business and cultural hub so that the industrial complex can become a landmark."
Currently, the Namdong National Industrial Complex houses about 7,000 companies, accounting for 27% of Incheon's manufacturing facilities, providing jobs for approximately 100,000 people.
Although it is a central area for the metropolitan region and Incheon’s economic development, its infrastructure is aging and composed mainly of manufacturing industrial facilities, leading to a lack of cultural spaces for workers and no distinctive features, thus requiring change and innovation.
In response, Namdong-gu created a 'Smart Garden,' an indoor garden incorporating automation technology, last year at four companies within the industrial complex to improve the working environment for Namdong Industrial Complex workers.
