Jinju City Opens Fifth Silver Cafe Inside Jinju Knowledge Industry Center
Silver & Youth Working Together Expected to Establish as a 'Generation-Integrated Job Project'
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Choi Soon-kyung] Jinju Seobu Senior Club, a dedicated organization for senior citizen jobs in Jinju, Gyeongnam, announced on the 8th that it opened the silver cafe ‘Cafe Re_Bom Jinju Knowledge Industry Center Branch’ on the 2nd on the 2nd floor of the Jinju Knowledge Industry Center.
The silver cafe, which opened that day, was selected last year in the second half as part of Gyeongsangnam-do’s public project ‘New Senior Job Project’ and received 20 million KRW in project funds to purchase cafe interior, equipment, and supplies.
Through consultations with Jinju City and The Waning Coffee Co., Ltd., 14 additional seniors were hired, creating job opportunities.
All participants acquired skills through a professional barista course, and a young manager hired through the ‘Youth Intern Support Project’ to create jobs for young people who have difficulty finding employment due to the COVID-19 pandemic works together, promoting a ‘generation-integrated job project’ that enhances business efficiency by fostering coexistence between the elderly and middle-aged groups.
The Jinju Knowledge Industry Center, located in Cheonjeon-dong, Jinju City, is a complex public facility housing administrative, welfare, and business enterprises, currently home to 23 businesses.
The outdoor park is developed as a citizen rest area, so the silver cafe is expected to provide a more friendly and attractive convenience space to facility users and citizens who use this area.

Meanwhile, Jinju Seobu Senior Club, designated as a dedicated organization for senior jobs in October 2019, has this year 898 seniors participating in 13 projects, an increase of 69 from the previous year, and is striving to support a healthy and vibrant old age by developing various senior job projects and performing highly satisfactory operations.
