Daejeon Special Judicial Police Crack Down on 5 Businesses Violating the Air Environment Conservation Act
[Asia Economy (Daejeon) Reporter Jeong Il-woong] The Daejeon Special Judicial Police announced on the 8th that they conducted a planned crackdown on fine dust-emitting businesses in the area from January to February and identified five businesses violating the Air Environment Conservation Act.
The crackdown was carried out to detect businesses suspected of generating fine dust during the winter season when air quality rapidly deteriorates, focusing on those operating emission facilities without permits or failing to report and control scattered dust emissions.
In the crackdown, companies A and B are suspected of operating molding facilities producing FRP without reporting them.
Additionally, companies C and D were caught during the crackdown for bringing in soil to construction sites without reporting scattered dust emission businesses.
Among them, company C violated related laws by not installing washing facilities for wheels, causing soil to spill onto roads as soil transport vehicles operated on them, and company D violated regulations by stockpiling approximately 2,500㎥ of soil at the construction site for about a month without installing dust control covers.
Company E was caught for failing to take necessary measures to suppress scattered dust emissions, such as installing dust prevention curtains, and for not complying with permits while performing exterior wall painting work on an apartment building.
The Special Judicial Police will file criminal charges against the violators at the identified businesses and notify the relevant authorities and local districts to ensure administrative actions are taken.
Lee Junho, head of the Civil Judicial Police Department of the city, stated, “We will continue on-site crackdowns on fine dust-emitting businesses in the area to secure a pleasant living environment for citizens.”
