Gwangju University Department of Early Childhood Education, 19 Pass National and Public School Teacher Certification Exams
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Gwan-woo] Gwangju University is emerging as a hub for training early childhood education professionals.
According to Gwangju University on the 8th, 19 students from the Early Childhood Education Department at Gwangju University passed the 2021 national and public kindergarten teacher employment exam held recently.
By region, there were 4 in Gwangju, 4 in Jeonbuk, 9 in Jeonnam, 1 in Gyeonggi, and 1 in Jeju.
Boasting a 40-year tradition since 1981, the Early Childhood Education Department at Gwangju University has produced more than 10 successful candidates in the employment exam over the past four years, with 11 in 2018, 19 in 2019, and 15 in 2020.
Additionally, it received the highest grade, A, in the ‘2020 Teacher Training Institution Competency Diagnosis Evaluation’ conducted by the Ministry of Education and the Korea Educational Development Institute, earning the Vice Prime Minister’s Award.
Among 105 general university education departments nationwide, 28 institutions (27%) received an A grade in this evaluation. Gwangju University was highly rated for its diverse faculty of professors with master's and doctoral degrees in various fields of early childhood education, the large number of outstanding graduates and their activities, and educational achievements.
The Early Childhood Education Department at Gwangju University operates field-oriented curricula and extracurricular programs to enhance professionalism and employment capabilities.
Through various extracurricular programs, they actively support obtaining major-related certifications such as ▲Level 1 Movement Play Instructor ▲Child Safety Instructor ▲Storytelling Instructor ▲Ukulele Instructor ▲Coding Instructor, and strive to strengthen employment skills.
Moreover, they conduct systematic education linked to the field through industry-academic cooperation with over 70 excellent early childhood education institutions in the Gwangju area and by managing eight national, public, and workplace daycare centers on consignment.
They also support the ‘First School Adaptation Support’ project for national and public kindergartens using prospective kindergarten teachers in cooperation with the Gwangju Metropolitan Office of Education.
