Gwangjin-gu Forms Local Council to Stabilize Vaccination Efforts
Establishing a Response System for Smooth Vaccination with Medical Institutions, Organizations, and Related Agencies... Commitment to Supporting Safe and Efficient Immunization Operations
[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Gwangjin-gu (Mayor Kim Seongap) held a signing ceremony on the 5th at the district office's comprehensive situation room to establish the 'Gwangjin-gu Regional Council,' a public-private consultative body, to stabilize vaccine administration.
This signing ceremony was organized to seek active cooperation from medical institutions, organizations, and related agencies to ensure the smooth implementation of the COVID-19 vaccination project for residents as the COVID-19 vaccination began.
The signing ceremony was attended by the chiefs of Gwangjin Police Station and Fire Station, the commander of the 1st Battalion of the 221st Brigade, the deputy director of Konkuk University Hospital, the director of Hyemin Hospital, the president of the Gwangjin-gu Medical Association, and the president of the Gwangjin-gu Nursing Association, who signed the agreement and discussed cooperation matters by institution.
The main contents of the agreement include ▲ joint response to block the local spread of COVID-19 ▲ active cooperation in securing medical personnel for the temporary vaccination project ▲ support for tasks to perform safe and efficient vaccinations.
Medical institution representatives attending the meeting said, "Even if difficulties arise when the district operates vaccination centers in the future, we will not spare support for medical personnel," and requested, "We hope for organic cooperation with related Gwangjin-gu agencies to enable immediate action in case of adverse reactions."
Also, heads of related agencies such as Gwangjin Police Station and Fire Station united in saying, "We will make thorough preparations for vaccine transportation, storage, and various emergency situations and do our best for the safety of residents."
They also proposed operating SNS to establish a hotline among related agency staff.
Gwangjin-gu began COVID-19 vaccinations on the 26th of last month targeting residents and workers of nursing hospitals and nursing facilities under 65 years old.
The district aims to complete vaccination for 70% (about 242,000 people) of all residents within this year. To vaccinate the general public, Jayang Gymnasium has been designated as a vaccination center, and about 140 hospitals and clinics have been selected as entrusted medical institutions, with operations starting in May.

Kim Seongap, mayor of Gwangjin-gu, said, "In the COVID-19 crisis, vaccines are the only means to end the situation," adding, "We will establish an organic response system with each institution for safe and smooth vaccination and conduct in-depth discussions and solid cooperation to successfully complete the vaccination mission."
