Gyeongbuk Province Issues Administrative Order for COVID-19 Testing of 'Foreign Workers' ... Until the 12th
Workplaces Employing Five or More... "No Verification of Illegal Stay"
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Dong-wook] Gyeongsangbuk-do announced on the 7th that it will issue an administrative order for COVID-19 diagnostic testing to proactively block and respond to workplace cluster infections.
Employers who hire five or more foreign workers must ensure that all foreign workers at each workplace undergo COVID-19 diagnostic testing at a nearby public health center from the 8th to the 12th.
Gyeongbuk Province will establish a cooperative system with the Daegu Regional Employment and Labor Office and five other branch offices, city and county labor departments, public health centers, and the Health and Environment Research Institute to improve the efficiency of diagnostic testing and continuously monitor workplace quarantine management.
If the administrative order is violated, the authorities will take legal action under the Infectious Disease Control and Prevention Act, and if the violation causes the spread of infection, they will seek compensation for quarantine costs such as testing, investigation, and treatment.
Foreign workers employed at workplaces with four or fewer foreign workers can also receive free COVID-19 diagnostic testing at nearby public health centers, and their illegal residency status will not be checked.
