Miryang-si Selected for Ministry of Land Smart City Solution Contest ... Secures 1.3 Billion Won

View original image[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Sang-hyun] On the 5th, Miryang City in Gyeongnam announced that it was selected for the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport's '2021 Smart City Solution Expansion Project' and will receive 1 billion KRW in national funds and 300 million KRW in provincial funds out of a total project cost of 2 billion KRW.
This project is a nationwide dissemination initiative by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport to expand and distribute proven excellent smart city solutions. Among these, 14 cities and counties were selected from 63 applicants nationwide for the solution-focused category. Miryang City is the only one selected in the province.
Through this project, Miryang City will install 'Smart Crosswalks' at seven locations to provide safety-related information to pedestrians and drivers, enhancing citizen safety, and will create a comfortable environment using Internet of Things (IoT) technology to address heat waves, cold waves, and fine dust.
Additionally, seven 'Smart Bus Stops' utilizing ICT convergence technologies such as safety bells and Wi-Fi will be installed to provide convenience to citizens and visitors using public transportation.

Mayor Park Il-ho said, "We plan to implement this project as a pilot to verify its effectiveness and resident satisfaction within the region and then expand the project," adding, "We will solve issues in daily life such as transportation, safety, and welfare through advanced ICT technology."
