Hong Jun-pyo: "Prosecutor Yoon, resigning now would be a wrong decision... Prosecutorial power should be focused on Moon case"
"It Is Not Too Late to Enter Politics After Serving"
[Asia Economy Reporter Hyunju Lee] Independent lawmaker Hong Joon-pyo urged Prosecutor General Yoon Seok-yeol on the 4th not to resign, stating, "It is time to focus prosecutorial power on cases involving President Moon Jae-in."
On that day, through his Facebook, Rep. Hong said, "If you resign now, it would be a wrong decision," emphasizing, "Now is the time to dedicate all prosecutorial power to the three cases related to President Moon Jae-in, staking the honor of the 70-year-old prosecution."
He continued, "If you resign now without investigating the living power, it would mean that even the investigations into the deceased powers, Lee Myung-bak and Park Geun-hye, were not for justice but were commissioned investigations for Moon Jae-in’s sudden rise," adding, "It will be difficult to shake off the stigma of being the last prosecutor general who dismantled the prosecution's investigative authority."
He also said, "Furthermore, yesterday’s visit to the Daegu District Prosecutors’ Office could be misunderstood as an inappropriate political act unbefitting of a prosecutor general, clearly showing an attempt to explore entry into politics," and added, "Break through head-on. I believe in Prosecutor General Yoon’s spirit and courage."
