Ministry of Foreign Affairs: "China Does Not Apply COVID-19 Anal Swab Test to Koreans"
[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Ji-eun] The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has revealed that Chinese authorities are not applying the anal swab gene amplification (PCR) test method used to confirm COVID-19 to Koreans.
At a regular briefing on the 2nd, Foreign Ministry spokesperson Choi Young-sam responded to a reporter's question by saying, "Since the beginning of the year, an indirect submission method has already been applied for Koreans instead of directly collecting fecal samples."

Meanwhile, Chief Cabinet Secretary Kato Katsunobu of the Japanese government stated at a press conference on the 1st that they had requested an exemption from the COVID-19 anal PCR test.
