Meat Specialty Shopping Mall 'Kim Sangwoo Food'... "Single-Person Households Also Enjoy Fresh Meat"
Popular Fast Kit with Myeonginamul
Same-Day Slaughter and Delivery Achieved in 2 Years of Research
[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Chun-han] In the era of 'Ilconomy' with 6 million single-person households, small-portion food products suitable for eating a meal alone are gaining popularity.
Kim Sang-woo, CEO of 'Kim Sang-woo Food,' said, "We planned meat and fast kit products portioned into 100g, 150g, 200g, and 300g sizes, inspired by the fact that single-person households rarely grill meat due to inconvenience," adding, "The response has been very positive, perhaps because there was a large latent demand."
Before starting his business, CEO Kim spent a long time finding a way to distribute fresh meat online. At the time of his startup, handling fresh food online was not as common as it is now. People around him warned him, concerned that the food might spoil. However, after about two years of research, he established a system that delivers products to customers in a fresh state from slaughtering to packaging and distribution. The slaughtering is completed quickly, and same-day shipping begins so that customers can receive the products the next day.
CEO Kim said, "Even with the same type of meat, the amount of fresh meat can vary depending on the slaughtering process," and added, "If the process takes too long, freshness can be compromised, so it is crucial for skilled technicians to finish quickly." He explained, "Set products by cuts allow customers to taste various parts evenly, and portioned meat lets them choose only their preferred cuts according to their taste. We also sell fast kits that include side items like myeongnanamul (garlic mustard leaves) and shrimp to accompany the meat. Additionally, we provide a one-stop service for all products needed for eating meat, such as sauces and ssamjang, which has received positive customer feedback."

However, he noted that the system of producing and processing on the same day is necessary to maintain freshness but poses a challenge because mass production is difficult. Since the daily production volume of refrigerated meat is fixed, only a limited quantity can be sold. Recently, due to word of mouth, order volumes have surged, causing delivery delays. Nevertheless, CEO Kim has no plans to change the current system of same-day slaughter and delivery. He stated, "The most important aspects of the product are taste and quality," and added, "Even if delivery is somewhat delayed, we will maintain the current system of same-day production and processing." CEO Kim plans to strengthen mechanization and automation further by introducing packaging automation to deliver more than 3,000 units per day.
