Park Young-sun: "I will bring forward the dream of owning a home with half-price apartments at 10 million won per pyeong"
[Asia Economy Reporters Koo Chae-eun, Jeon Jin-young] Park Young-sun, former Minister of SMEs and Startups, who was confirmed as the Democratic Party candidate in the April 7 Seoul mayoral by-election, said in her acceptance speech on the 1st, "I will become a Seoul mayor who advances the dreams of ordinary citizens to own homes with half-priced apartments at around 10 million KRW per pyeong."
She mentioned, "When I was young, my parents bought a 18-pyeong national housing unit in Namgajwa-dong, Seodaemun-gu, Seoul, and they were as happy as if they had gained the whole world," adding, "I want to give the same joy to the homeless citizens of Seoul." Candidate Park said, "I will become a Seoul mayor who advances the dreams of ordinary citizens to own homes with half-priced apartments at around 10 million KRW per pyeong," and added, "Starting with the reconstruction of public rental housing complexes that are over 30 years old, I will realize the dream of home ownership."
She also addressed policies on self-employment measures and medical services. Candidate Park said, "As Minister of SMEs and Startups, I supported small business owners and self-employed people with New Hope Funds and Safety Net Funds, establishing the world's fastest K-administration system where applications made in the morning are deposited by the afternoon," and added, "I will prioritize restoring Seoul thoroughly and meticulously from the daily life disrupted by COVID-19."
She said, "One-stop healthcare, combining health care and caregiving, will be a strong support for the elderly, disabled, and socially vulnerable in the era of 100-year lifespans," and added, "I will create a strong Seoul with Seoul citizens and a capable mayor."

In the Seoul mayoral primary election results announced on the 1st, Candidate Park received 69.56% of the votes, defeating Representative Woo Sang-ho, who received 30.44%, and was confirmed as the Democratic Party’s Seoul mayoral candidate. With this, Candidate Park advances to the main Seoul mayoral election after her third attempt, following 2011 and 2018.
