Moon Seok-jin, Seodaemun-gu Mayor, Receives Gwangbokhoe's '1st Minjok Jeonggi Award'
'Republic of Korea Provisional Assembly Taegeukgi' Model Raised at Old District Office Building Due to Injury
[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Seodaemun-gu (Mayor Moon Seok-jin) announced that on the afternoon of the 26th, ahead of the 102nd Samiljeol (March 1st Movement Day), a model of the "Provisional National Assembly Taegeukgi" was hoisted at the Seodaemun-gu Office building.
This Taegeukgi was received as a prize when Mayor Moon Seok-jin of Seodaemun-gu was awarded the "1st National Spirit Award" by the Liberation Association at the Liberation Hall in Yeouido, Seoul, on the morning of the same day.
The Liberation Association stated that "Mayor Moon was selected as the awardee in recognition of his contributions since July 2010 as mayor, honoring the spirit of independence, strengthening support for independence activists, and fostering patriotism among the younger generation."
Specific projects included promoting the March 1st Movement commemorative projects, hosting the Seodaemun Independence Democracy Festival, constructing the public rental housing "Nara Sarangchae" for independence activists and their families, expanding and restoring the Seodaemun Prison History Hall historic site, and supporting research on independence movement history.

Mayor Moon Seok-jin expressed his award acceptance remarks, saying, "Thanks to the pioneers who devoted themselves to the country, the Republic of Korea exists today," and added, "We will continue to remember and commemorate their history to enhance the historical value and meaning of independence and pass it on to the next generation."
