Tim Cook Welcomes Korean Customers on Twitter, Highlights Apple Store Yeouido Opening
Yeouido Store Opens on February 26
Second Apple Store in Korea Since 2018
[Asia Economy, Reporter Minyoung Cha] "We welcome Korean customers to the Apple Store Yeouido."
On February 27 (local time), Apple CEO Tim Cook personally mentioned and promoted the newly opened Apple Store Yeouido through his Twitter account, serving as a brand ambassador.
Along with photos from inside the store, he briefly introduced it as "the second Apple Store in Seoul."
Within less than two hours, Tim Cook's post was retweeted more than 300 times and received over 4,500 likes.
Located in the IFC Mall in Yeouido, Seoul, the Apple Store Yeouido opened its doors to customers at 10 a.m. on February 26. This comes about three years after the opening of the first Apple Store in Korea, Garosu-gil, which launched in Sinsa-dong, Seoul, in January 2018.
This is the first time since 2018 that CEO Tim Cook has posted a tweet related to Korea. On November 30, 2018, to mark World AIDS Day, he posted a photo of the Garosu-gil Apple Store featuring a red Apple logo.
Previously, he had tweeted to celebrate the launch of new products such as the iPhone XS and Apple Watch 4 in the Korean market. Those tweets gained significant attention for including Korean words such as "Thank you" and "Warm."
