According to Gangjin County, a total of 300 doses (30 vials) of the AstraZeneca vaccine were delivered. Starting with 10 people at Gangjin Hyoyo Nursing Hospital on the 26th, vaccinations will be administered to 187 inpatients, residents under the age of 65, and staff at five nursing facilities in the county from July 2nd to 5th.
For nursing hospitals with doctors on staff, vaccinations will be conducted in-house through direct vaccine delivery, while nursing facility residents and staff will visit the public health center sequentially for vaccination.
The county plans to proceed swiftly as 97.5% of the first-dose vaccination candidates agreed to receive the COVID-19 vaccine according to a survey on vaccination willingness.
The vaccination plan for the general public was also disclosed. The second phase targets a total of 13,515 people, including 12,035 seniors aged 65 and older, 935 workers and users of elderly home welfare facilities, about 500 medical institution and pharmacy workers, and 45 people in facilities for the disabled, with vaccinations scheduled to begin in the second quarter depending on government vaccine supply.
The third phase, conducted from July to October, targets a total of 18,838 people. This includes 18,073 adults aged 19 to 64 (including those with chronic diseases such as hypertension), 252 military personnel, police officers, and firefighters, and 513 education and childcare facility workers, with vaccination targets expanding sequentially.
The vaccination methods will be divided into three types?vaccination centers, entrusted medical institutions, and home visits?taking into account the characteristics of the vaccine, timing of introduction, and the circumstances of the vaccination candidates.
Gangjin County plans to designate 11 entrusted medical institutions as vaccination sites after on-site inspections, in line with expanded vaccine supply, so that residents can receive vaccinations close to their homes.
County Governor Lee Seung-ok said, “The goal of COVID-19 vaccination is to form herd immunity, so I hope all eligible individuals receive the vaccine.” He added, “However, since immunity is not established immediately after vaccination, I earnestly ask everyone to adhere to personal quarantine rules even more strictly than before.”
