SK E&S Supports Vulnerable Groups with 'Hankkinanum On(Tact) Project'
[Asia Economy Reporter Hwang Yoon-joo] SK E&S announced on the 25th that it will implement the 'One Meal Sharing On(溫) Tact Project,' delivering lunchboxes to vulnerable groups in the community, including elderly people living alone, nationwide.
On the 25th, SK E&S held a signing ceremony for the 'One Meal Sharing On(溫) Tact Project' with Chuncheon City Hall and announced that it will support lunchboxes for 100 elderly people living alone in the Chuncheon area for three months. Through the agreement ceremony, SK E&S donated 55 million KRW to the Chuncheon Southern Senior Welfare Center. Key officials present included Koo Hyun-seo, Head of SK E&S SV Promotion Headquarters, Lee Jae-su, Mayor of Chuncheon, and Park Kyung-sik, CEO of Gangwon City Gas.
The 'One Meal Sharing' project promoted by SK E&S was planned with the intention of not only providing lunchboxes but also revitalizing the local commercial district together. In fact, this project procures ingredients from merchants in Chuncheon’s traditional markets, expecting a 'two birds with one stone' effect by supporting the issue of food insecurity among vulnerable groups and contributing to the local economy.
The 'One Meal Sharing On Tact Project' is an activity promoted as an extension of the 'Safety Net' that SK Group Chairman Chey Tae-won has emphasized. As social safety nets rapidly weakened due to the COVID-19 pandemic, with an increasing number of local governments suspending free meal services, major SK Group companies including SK E&S are supporting vulnerable groups nationwide who find it difficult to secure even their next meal.
SK E&S has also donated a total of 120 million KRW to Iksan and Seosan, supporting elderly people facing food insecurity in these two regions by providing high-quality ready meals and lunchboxes daily for about three months. Furthermore, from purchasing ingredients to preparing and delivering lunchboxes, SK E&S has established a cooperative system with local small business owners and residents, contributing to regional economic revitalization and job creation for the elderly.
Meanwhile, as SK E&S conducts energy businesses based on local communities nationwide, it is actively pursuing various efforts to contribute to solving local difficulties and fulfilling its role as a safety net. Since 2019, SK E&S has actively supported the ‘Localize Gunsan’ project, which aids youth startup teams for urban regeneration in the Gunsan area. Last year, it also generously donated approximately 4 billion KRW worth of win-win cooperation funds to support local communities’ COVID-19 recovery efforts, broadly supporting the competitiveness recovery of local economic actors.
