Sancheong-gun Implements Special Crackdown on Illegal Forest Damage
Entry into Restricted Mountain Areas and Bringing Flammable Materials
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Choi Soon-kyung] Sancheong-gun, Gyeongnam announced on the 24th that it will launch a special crackdown on illegal activities in forests.
This crackdown comes in response to the recent surge in indiscriminate camping and cooking activities within the Forest Genetic Resources Protection Zone and the Baekdudaegan Protection Zone.
There is concern that the lack of awareness about illegal activities is leading to the spread and promotion of such acts through SNS and other channels.
The county has formed a crackdown team centered on special judicial police officers in the forestry sector to focus on unauthorized entry into restricted mountain areas, bringing in fire and flammable materials into the forest, and illegal dumping of garbage.
They will conduct frequent inspections in areas heavily used by hikers and efficiently monitor large forest areas using wildfire surveillance cameras.
