Yeosu-si Eupmyeon-dong Community Security Council Sets New Record for Highest Joint Fundraising Amount
Last Year, 393.98 Million Won Donation Certificate Presentation Ceremony for United Fundraising Held
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Heo Seon-sik] Yeosu City announced on the 24th that the Eupmyeondong Community Social Security Council (Chairman Han Ok-cheon) has set a record for five consecutive years of increasing the amount raised through joint fundraising despite the COVID-19 crisis.
The Yeosu City Eupmyeondong Community Social Security Council delivered a certificate of sponsorship for the joint fundraising amounting to 393.98 million KRW raised last year to Mayor Kwon Oh-bong at the Yeosu City Hall situation room yesterday morning.
The joint fundraising project is a matching program where the Eupmyeondong Community Social Security Council collects donations and the Jeonnam Community Chest of Korea adds a certain percentage of funds. Fundraising and donor discovery are conducted in one year, and the project is carried out the following year.
The amounts raised were 235.14 million KRW in 2016, 254.07 million KRW in 2017, 279.76 million KRW in 2018, 352.13 million KRW in 2019, and 393.98 million KRW last year, totaling over 1.5 billion KRW over five years.
The funds are used by the Eupmyeondong Community Social Security Council for more than 120 local specialized projects, including emergency relief funds for welfare crisis households, side dish support projects, and home repair projects.
Jang Young, chairman of the Yeosu City Community Social Security Council, said, “We will do our best in council activities to create a better Yeosu where everyone lives together.”
