HiteJinro Beverage Switches Drinking Water 'Seoksu' to Eco-Friendly Label-Free Packaging
[Asia Economy Reporter Seungjin Lee] Hite Jinro Beverage announced on the 24th that it will launch a label-free product of its bottled water brand ‘Seoksu’.
Hite Jinro Beverage explained that by launching the label-free product, it aims to actively participate in the eco-friendly campaign by reducing vinyl waste emissions and making it easier to separate and dispose of transparent PET bottles.
The label-free products will be sold in bundled packaging, and the product name, logo, and mandatory information previously indicated on the label will be printed on the PET bottle container, cap, and the outer surface of the bundled packaging.
Starting from mid-March, Hite Jinro Beverage will supply label-free bottled water products to convenience stores including CU and online malls such as social commerce platforms. From the second quarter, more than 50% of the company’s bottled water PET production will be converted to label-free products, and eventually, all bundled products will be changed to label-free.
Meanwhile, Hite Jinro Beverage has continued its eco-friendly practices through lightweight containers and eco-label introduction. According to the ‘Bottled Water Bottle Lightweight Practice Agreement’ signed with the Ministry of Environment in 2013, the ‘Seoksu’ PET bottles were lightened, reducing plastic use by 570 tons annually and simultaneously contributing to carbon emission reduction.
Before launching the label-free products, from the end of last year, an eco tab that allows easy removal of labels was introduced to all capacities of Seoksu to help consumers separate and dispose of PET bottles easily and correctly.
