1 COVID-19 Death and 3 New Cases Reported in Gwangju...Total Cases Reach 2,000
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Gwan-woo] Three new COVID-19 cases have been confirmed in Gwangju Metropolitan City, and the 20th death has occurred.
According to Gwangju City on the 23rd, as of 2 p.m. that day, three people were confirmed positive and classified as Gwangju cases 1998 to 2000.
Their infection routes were investigated as one each from Hyojeong Nursing Hospital, Hyundai Motor Jeonju Plant, and unknown sources.
In Gwangju, a pattern of continuous chain infections is being observed from a local infection who had contact with Jeonbuk case 1112, an employee of Hyundai Motor Jeonju Plant located in Wanju-gun, Jeonbuk.
With the addition of Gwangju case 1999, the cumulative number of confirmed cases related to Hyundai Motor Jeonju Plant has increased to six.
One person related to Hyojeong Nursing Hospital (Gwangju case 1993) was also confirmed positive, and one symptomatic individual who underwent a COVID-19 test (Gwangju case 2000) was confirmed as well.
The infection route of Gwangju case 2000 has not yet been identified.
On the previous day, the 20th COVID-19 death (Gwangju case 1951) occurred. The patient was admitted to Hyojeong Nursing Hospital, tested positive on the 15th, transferred to Heairam Hospital for treatment, and passed away during treatment.
