Gochang County Sports Association Launches Sports Fairness Committee
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Jaegil] The Jeonbuk Gochang-gun Sports Council announced on the 23rd that it held the first meeting of the ‘Sports Fairness Committee’ and presented appointment letters to the committee members.
The committee held that day was composed of Hong Gimu, coach of the Gochang-gun Women’s Judo Team; An Jeongik, judicial scrivener; Bae Sangsu, track coach at Gochang Elementary School; Hwang Seungsu, co-representative of the Gochang Citizens’ Group; Jo Suhyeon, director of the Gochang-gun Sports Council; Kim Gyeongchun, former president of the Gochang-gun Bicycle Association; Ju Hyeonju, vice president of the Gochang-gun Sports Council; and Kim Seonggyu, president of the Heungdeok-myeon Sports Council.
Kim Seonggyu, president of the Heungdeok-myeon Sports Council, was appointed as the chairman of the committee, and Hwang Seungsu, co-representative of the Gochang Citizens’ Group, was appointed as the vice chairman.
The committee is responsible for acts or incidents that undermine sports fairness, such as organizational privatization, admission corruption, (sexual) violence, match-fixing, and biased refereeing.
In addition, the committee deliberates and resolves matters related to legislation such as the establishment and revision of regulations, as well as awards matters including recommendations for commendations, sports awards recipients, and government and Jeollabuk-do award candidates, along with investigations and disciplinary actions.
Chairman Kim Seonggyu said, “As the inaugural chairman, I will take on this heavy responsibility and strive to establish a clean and fair sports culture in Gochang.”
