The province believes that a structural improvement is urgently needed for the aquaculture industry to become a future food industry of Jeonnam.
Accordingly, from April to the end of the year, it plans to carry out a "Research Project for Establishing an Implementation Plan for the Development of the Aquaculture Industry" to establish a mid- to long-term roadmap.
The "Jeollanam-do Aquaculture Industry Development Implementation Plan" will specifically include ▲increasing the productivity of the aquaculture industry ▲dissemination and guidance of technology for aquaculture industry development ▲promotion of international cooperation in the aquaculture industry and entry into overseas markets ▲designation and support of aquaculture industrial complexes ▲promotion of consumption and revitalization of exports of aquaculture seafood ▲analysis of domestic and international aquaculture industry conditions.
In addition, a "Public-Private-Academic Aquaculture Industry Expert TF" was formed to collect opinions for the Jeonnam Aquaculture Industry Development Implementation Plan research project. The TF consists of a total of 14 members: 9 from the private sector, 4 from administration, and 1 from academia.
The TF will provide and reflect opinions from the drafting of the research project task instructions to completion, establishing a practical implementation plan.

Wi Gwanghwan, Director of the Marine Fisheries Bureau of Jeonnam Province, said, "We will carry out the research project for establishing the mid- to long-term aquaculture industry development implementation plan earnestly," and added, "We plan to prepare sustainable and competitive development measures for Jeonnam's aquaculture industry as well as plans for securing and supporting funding."
