According to Gyeongju City on the 22nd, the 3.2 km section expansion of Ankang Central Urban Planning Road is expected to be completed by the end of this year. The four-lane expansion construction from the National Road No. 68 IC to Samdae Samgeori in Ankang-eup has been underway since 2005 with an investment of 28.3 billion KRW.
However, among the entire expansion section, the 548 m section at Sandae Samgeori in Ankang-eup had been stagnant until last year due to land compensation issues. As a result, the four-lane road suddenly narrowed before Sandae Samgeori, causing traffic congestion for vehicles entering the National Road No. 68 IC.
Accordingly, Gyeongju City has been conducting continuous consultations to alleviate the inconvenience of about 25,000 Ankang-eup residents, and completed negotiations with landowners last year, currently proceeding with the expansion construction normally.

Mayor Ju Nak-young of Gyeongju said, "Once the construction is completed by the end of this year, not only will the traffic flow on roads near Ankang-eup improve smoothly, but the sidewalks will be expanded, eliminating safety concerns for students commuting to and from Ankang Middle and High Schools."
