Korea Institute for Advancement of Technology Launches Full-Scale Digital and Green New Deal ODA Through 'New Edge' Program
Call for 'Industrial and Energy Cooperation Development Support Project' until the 16th of next month
[Sejong=Asia Economy Reporter Joo Sang-don] The Korea Institute for Advancement of Technology (KIAT) is set to actively promote digital and green New Deal Official Development Assistance (ODA) based on the 'NEW EDGE' program.
KIAT announced on the 22nd that it will accept applications for the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy's '2021 Industrial and Energy ODA Announcement' until the 16th of next month.
The NEW EDGE program, newly established by KIAT this year to create synergy in international development cooperation projects, aims to proactively support developing countries' response to the 4th Industrial Revolution and increasing energy demand in the post-COVID-19 era, while integrating and expanding KIAT's international development cooperation activities in digital and green New Deal fields such as digital healthcare and renewable energy.
This announcement is a follow-up measure to the 'K-New Deal Globalization Strategy' announced on the 13th of last month and the 'Korea-Uzbekistan Digital Trade Cooperation Memorandum of Understanding (MOU)' signed on the 28th of the same month. It plans to recruit executing agencies for projects such as the Uzbekistan digital healthcare platform, planned during the April 2019 presidential visit, and the Nigeria Abuja region standalone mini-grid, planned in cooperation with the World Bank (WB), as well as discover new development cooperation projects in digital and green New Deal fields including electric vehicles, smart farms, eco-friendly energy source power generation, and smart grids.
Applications will be accepted until the 16th of next month, and executing agencies will be selected through an evaluation process in April.
