[Asia Economy Reporter La Young-cheol] Gyeonggi Province is discovering promising startup companies with innovative ideas and technologies.
According to the province on the 22nd, this year's contest is divided into the 'Pre-Startup League' and the 'Startup League,' with additional points given to women, people with disabilities, and social enterprises.
About 15 teams per league will be selected for the preliminary and main competitions, and a final competition will be held in October to select a total of 10 winning teams: 1 grand prize winner, 2 excellence award winners, 2 merit award winners, and 5 encouragement award winners.
The total prize money is 115 million KRW, and final winners will receive not only prize money but also additional points and special guarantee benefits when moving into the Gyeonggi Venture Startup Support Center. Various benefits are also available for startup support projects hosted by Gyeonggi Province.
The 30 teams advancing beyond the main competition will have opportunities to attract investment through four months of mentoring, demo days, and other accelerating support.
Eligible participants are prospective entrepreneurs with excellent technology and creative ideas in knowledge industry-type items, as well as companies within three years of establishment.
