[Asia Economy Reporter Yoo Byung-don] Prime Minister Chung Sye-kyun instructed on the 21st regarding the wildfire spreading in Andong and Yecheon, Gyeongbuk, saying, "The Korea Forest Service and the National Fire Agency should cooperate with local governments, police, and other related agencies to mobilize firefighting personnel and equipment to the fullest extent and do their best for prompt containment."
On the same day, through an emergency directive, Prime Minister Chung ordered, "Since the wildfire is rapidly spreading due to strong winds, ensure thorough evacuation of residents to prevent any casualties."
Prime Minister Chung added, "Prepare thoroughly in advance, including deploying forest helicopters, to enable early containment at sunrise," and emphasized, "Also, ensure the safety of forest firefighting and firefighting personnel conducting nighttime suppression activities."
The fire that broke out around 3:20 p.m. in Mangcheon-ri, Imdong-myeon, Andong City, spread continuously to the surrounding areas, driven by the wind.

Accordingly, the forest and firefighting authorities issued response levels 2 and 1 respectively and began suppression efforts. Fire departments from Gyeongnam, Daegu, Ulsan, Changwon, Chungnam, Daejeon, and Busan have also mobilized 49 fire trucks and 122 personnel to carry out firefighting activities.
