"Help me" Police arrive in 50 minutes... Woman in her 50s ultimately murdered
[Asia Economy Reporter Hana Na] A woman who was threatened with a weapon called 112 and pleaded "Please save me," but was ultimately brutally murdered due to the police's delayed response.
According to the police on the 21st, at around 1 a.m. on the 17th, Ms. A (50, female) reported to 112 from a residential area in Gwangmyeong 5-dong, Gwangmyeong-si, Gyeonggi-do, saying, "I am being threatened with a weapon. Please save me."
Ms. A called the police while the suspect, Mr. B (in his 50s), had stepped outside briefly to smoke.
The police immediately activated the most urgent response level, "Code Zero," and arrived in front of the reported location within 10 minutes, but the officers were unable to locate the exact place and wandered around the vicinity for several tens of minutes.
The police found the crime scene and entered 50 minutes after receiving the report, arresting Mr. B. However, Ms. A, who had made the call, was found dead with multiple stab wounds.
Closed-circuit television (CCTV) footage showed police officers walking slowly in front of the crime scene with their hands in their pockets or clasped behind their backs.
Mr. B reportedly stated, "I committed the crime out of anger during an argument." The police have detained Mr. B on suspicion of murder.
