[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Jung-yoon] Court officials have been repeatedly crossing the line with misconduct, including attempting to sexually assault women, causing disturbances at police stations, and being booked by the police after disputes following prostitution.
According to the police on the 20th, the Songpa Police Station in Seoul applied for an arrest warrant for Mr. A, a public official in his 30s affiliated with the Seoul Eastern District Court, who is accused of assaulting a woman while intoxicated and attempting sexual assault, including rape and injury.
At around 10 p.m. on the 17th, Mr. A, who was intoxicated, is accused of assaulting and attempting to sexually assault a woman he did not know in the restroom of a commercial building in Munjeong-dong, Songpa-gu. Mr. A fled when the victim resisted, but was apprehended by police who responded to the report.
The Eastern District Court plans to monitor the investigation and proceed with future measures regarding Mr. A.
Mr. B, a public official in his 50s with a special appointment at the Supreme Court, who assaulted a karaoke bar owner while intoxicated and caused a disturbance at a police station, was sent to the prosecution on assault charges.
Mr. B, who operates an official vehicle, is accused of assaulting the owner and others at a karaoke bar in Seocho-gu around 8 p.m. on the 10th of this month while intoxicated, after a dispute over the owner’s refusal to accept customers. After being taken to a nearby police station, he caused a disturbance for about 30 minutes, and is also charged with public office intoxication disorder.
Mr. C, a public official in his 50s working at a metropolitan court, was booked by the police on charges of violating the Act on the Punishment of Acts of Arranging Sexual Traffic (Sex Trade Punishment Act).

Mr. C is accused of engaging in prostitution with a woman he met through a chat app at a motel in Gangnam-gu at around 2:50 p.m. on the 11th. After the prostitution, the woman, who was arguing with Mr. C over payment, reported to 112 claiming "I did not receive the money properly," leading to the crime being uncovered. The woman involved in prostitution was also booked, and during the investigation, the police found that the woman took cash from Mr. C’s wallet, adding theft charges.
