[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Yoon Jamin] The police expressed their gratitude to a bank clerk who prevented a voice phishing scam.
On the 19th, the Gwangsan Police Station in Gwangju announced that it awarded a certificate of appreciation to Mr. Heo, a NongHyup Bank clerk, for his contribution to preventing voice phishing damage.
At around 10:20 a.m. the previous day, Mr. Heo found it suspicious that Mr. A was trying to deposit a large sum of money and reported it to the police, preventing the damage.
It is known that Mr. A was deceived by a message on Facebook saying, "I am a dispatched soldier who found gold bars in Syria, and if you send a fee, I will give you an investment opportunity," and tried to deposit 12 million won.
