3 Confirmed COVID-19 Cases Overnight in Gwangju Including Samsung Gwangju Plant Employees
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Yoon Jamin] Two people at Samsung Electronics' Gwangju plant tested positive for COVID-19, bringing the total number of infections in the Gwangju area to three overnight.
According to Gwangju Metropolitan City on the 19th, three people tested positive overnight and were classified as cases 1972 to 1974.
Cases 1973 and 1974 are employees of the 3rd factory at Samsung Electronics' Gwangju plant. They tested positive during a full-scale screening conducted after their coworker, case 1966, was confirmed positive.
Case 1966 is related to the index patient, case 1955, who was confirmed positive in connection with a family gathering during the Seollal holiday. Case 1955 developed symptoms on the 17th, underwent testing, and was confirmed positive. The infection route is currently under investigation.
So far, a total of 12 confirmed cases have been linked to case 1955.
