[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Kim Yong-woo] The Korea Occupational Safety and Health Agency (KOSHA, President Park Doo-yong) has selected four new companies as 'Outstanding Workplaces for Worker Health Promotion Activities' for the second half of 2020.

The Outstanding Workplaces for Worker Health Promotion Activities system selects excellent workplaces that have made efforts to prevent work-related diseases and promote worker health.

Selections are made twice a year, in the first and second halves, through on-site visits and a selection committee based on 43 evaluation criteria including health promotion system establishment, awareness level, and program operation.

The selected outstanding workplaces receive many benefits during a three-year validity period, such as exemption from health examination and health promotion-related supervision, and priority recommendation for government awards.

KOSHA newly selected four workplaces for the second half of 2020 and extended the designation for 20 previously selected workplaces.

The newly selected four companies, including CJ CheilJedang Nonsan Plant, were highly evaluated for increasing worker participation in health promotion activities through active support from management and implementing health promotion programs tailored to the characteristics of each workplace.

Twenty workplaces, including Toray Advanced Materials, were extended as outstanding workplaces through continuous health promotion activities. Currently, there are a total of 86 outstanding workplaces for worker health promotion activities nationwide.

KOSHA has been selecting outstanding workplaces for health promotion activities since 2011, and the selected workplaces can be checked on the agency's website.

A KOSHA official said, "We hope that the excellent cases of the selected outstanding workplaces will be disseminated so that worker health promotion activities involving both labor and management are actively promoted at workplaces nationwide, and further contribute to the prevention of industrial accidents."
