Jeonnam Province Holds National Treasury Proposal Project Report Meeting... Discovering New Projects Worth 600 Billion Won in National Funds
[Muan=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Yoon Jamin] Jeonnam Province announced on the 18th that it held a new project proposal meeting for national treasury funds and discovered 131 new projects worth about 600 billion won in national funds.
The projects discovered on this day focused on supporting the Blue Economy, a core policy of the provincial government, and the eight major promotion strategies of the provincial government goals.
In particular, the province plans to make an all-out effort to secure more than 8 trillion won in national treasury funds next year, including ongoing projects, preliminary feasibility study target projects, large-scale national projects, and public contest projects.
To this end, it decided to carry out step-by-step national treasury fund securing activities, starting with reflecting projects in central government ministries from March to May, explaining to the Ministry of Strategy and Finance from June to August, and visiting the National Assembly from September to December for full-scale activities.
Major new projects include securing 4.5 billion won for the development of large-capacity water electrolysis stacks (3MW) and green hydrogen demonstration to foster innovative growth industries and create good jobs, 4 billion won for the development and demonstration of an offshore energy integrated management digital platform, 3 billion won for establishing a vaccine immunity-centered microbiome pharmaceutical material commercialization ecosystem, and 9 billion won for the future flying car core parts fostering infrastructure project.
Projects to enhance the value and quality of Jeonnam's tourism and cultural resources include the Coastal Sunshine Road construction (80 billion won), the national island and sea digital garden creation (180 billion won), the construction of the national road No. 77 connecting Sinan Amhae~Mokpo Yuldo·Dallido~Haenam Hwawon (ongoing, 60 billion won), and the construction of the national road No. 77 connecting Yeosu Hwatae~Baegya (ongoing, 60 billion won).
To expand regional core SOC and achieve balanced regional development, projects secured include the construction of the Jeolla Line high-speed railway (reflected in the national plan), the Gwangju~Wando Phase 2 and Gwangju~Goheung expressways (reflected in the national plan), early completion of the Honam high-speed railway Phase 2 (ongoing, 424 billion won), and electrification of the Gyeongjeon Line (Gwangju Songjeong~Suncheon) (ongoing, 29.7 billion won).
Projects to create desirable rural and fishing villages through income improvement of agricultural and fishery households include the creation of an eco-friendly livestock convergence tourism land (3.5 billion won), the establishment of eco-friendly fruit and vegetable specialized complexes (5 billion won), the construction of the National Seaweed Industry Research Institute (3 billion won), and the relocation of the Livestock Resource Development Department of the National Institute of Animal Science (ongoing, 85.6 billion won).
In addition, to strengthen customized welfare policies that residents can feel, emphasis is placed on securing funds for the creation of an integrated medical healthcare town (1 billion won), the establishment of an emergency integrated care center for the elderly and disabled (2.5 billion won), and the construction of non-face-to-face video visitation rooms in nursing facilities and nursing hospitals (500 million won).
Jeonnam Governor Kim Young-rok said, “We must discover and reflect substantial projects that have a large ripple effect on the regional economy and can improve the quality of life of residents, such as job creation and fostering new growth industries, which are the top priorities of the provincial government.” He added, “With the spirit of Ubo Manri (牛步萬里), like a diligent ox, we must work hard and secure national treasury budgets without fail.”
