Seodaemun-gu Supports 485 Electronic Whiteboards to 37 Schools
Full Funding of 2.61 Billion Won Allocated to Establish Smart Classroom Environment
[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Seodaemun-gu (Mayor Moon Seok-jin) recently supported a total of 485 electronic boards, including 101 beam projector-type electronic boards and 384 TV-type electronic boards, to 37 schools in the area (17 elementary, 12 middle, 7 high schools, and 1 special school).
This project, aimed at establishing a smart classroom environment and facilitating smooth online learning, required a budget of 2.61 billion KRW, which was fully funded by the district (education expense subsidy).
Additionally, the Seoul Western Education Support Office conducted demand surveys by school and coordinated joint procurement of supplies.
The newly installed electronic boards will be used for both in-person and remote classes, enhancing satisfaction for teachers and students.
Last year, the district opened the ‘Convergence Talent Education Center’ to establish an education foundation aligned with the 4th Industrial Revolution, proactively implementing projects such as supporting smart devices for educationally vulnerable students and building wireless infrastructure within schools for remote classes.
This year, support will continue to strengthen future-oriented digital learning foundations by creating online studios and makerspaces (open production rooms) within schools.
