[Breaking] Infection Alert from Seoul Hospitals... Confirmed Cases Continue at Seoul National University, Korea University Anam, Soonchunhyang University, and Others
[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Juhyung] COVID-19 infections continue among medical staff and patients at large general hospitals in Seoul, raising concerns about cluster infections originating from these hospitals.
At Soonchunhyang University Hospital in Yongsan-gu, 171 confirmed cases have been reported, and at Hanyang University Hospital in Seongdong-gu, the cumulative number of confirmed cases is 98. Since large general hospitals have many severe patients, medical staff, and visitors, the possibility of large-scale spread following cluster infections is high, prompting alert from health authorities.
According to Seoul city officials on the 18th, a professor in the Department of Pediatric Anesthesia and Pain Medicine at Seoul National University Hospital in Jongno-gu tested positive for COVID-19. The professor is reported to have participated in surgeries until just before the positive diagnosis.
