Assemblyman Jang: "Your Name Is Always Beside Mine"
[Asia Economy Reporter Oh Ju-yeon] On the 17th, Jang Hye-young, a member of the Justice Party, was selected as one of the '100 Rising Figures (TIME 100 NEXT 2021)' by the American current affairs weekly magazine TIME. Among them, Jang is the only Korean.

View original imageTIME described Jang as "someone who helped take her disabled younger sibling out of an institution to live independently, produced documentaries, and has been active as a human rights activist," adding that "she is currently working in the National Assembly to pass the Anti-Discrimination Act."
Regarding this selection, Jang expressed her thoughts on Facebook, saying, "Next to my name are the names of all citizens who dream of a future where the dignity and equality of all humans, diversity, and climate justice breathe."
She also wrote, "Diversity is not discomfort or threat but our strength," and "Therefore, I fight for the enactment of the Anti-Discrimination Act for everyone."
Jang emphasized, "The freedom to live fully in the community is not a privilege of the non-disabled but a right of all citizens," and "I fight for the deinstitutionalization of all disabled people and for a better democracy."
