Hansol Paper launches eco-friendly paper containing cocoa in collaboration with Lotte Confectionery
Eco-friendly Packaging Material 'Kakaopanji'... Utilizing By-products Generated During Chocolate Processing
"We Will Continuously Release Products with Higher Cocoa Content"
[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Junhyung] Hansol Paper announced on the 17th that it has partnered with Lotte Confectionery to develop an eco-friendly paper packaging material called 'Cacao Board,' which contains components from cacao fruit.
Cacao Board is an eco-friendly paper jointly developed by Hansol Paper, Lotte Confectionery, and Lotte Central Research Institute. It is made by processing byproducts of cacao fruit, discarded after being used as chocolate raw material, into powder form and mixing it with recycled pulp.
Last June, Hansol Paper and Lotte Confectionery began a joint project to develop Cacao Board. After continuous research and development (R&D) and collaboration, they launched the new product within seven months.
With this development, Hansol Paper is expected to be able to replace wood powder, an essential raw material in the paper production process. Lotte Confectionery can efficiently recycle cacao byproducts generated during production.
Hansol Paper has embarked on ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) management by establishing and managing a resource circulation system from raw material production to waste disposal and recycling. It is also accelerating the development of eco-friendly products, such as 'Protego,' an eco-friendly paper packaging material that replaces plastic.
A Hansol Paper official stated, "We will continuously release eco-friendly products with increased cacao byproduct content," adding, "We plan to concurrently develop various products, including cacao-containing fancy paper."
