Porsche Unveils New 911 GT3 for the First Time Worldwide
Starting from 152,416 Euros (approximately 200 million KRW)... Domestic release price undecided
[Asia Economy Reporter Yu Je-hoon] Porsche Korea announced on the 17th that Porsche AG has unveiled the new 911 GT3, the first GT model based on the 8th generation Porsche 911.
According to Porsche, the new 911 GT3 incorporates extensive pure racing technology. It features a double wishbone front suspension, a swan neck rear wing that produces sophisticated aerodynamic effects, and a diffuser derived from the successful GT race car 911 RSR.
The 4.0-liter 6-cylinder boxer engine producing a maximum output of 510 horsepower (PS) is based on the drivetrain of the 911 GT3 R, which has been proven in endurance racing. The high-revving engine that emits an impressive sound is also used in the new 911 GT3 Cup.
For a pure driving experience, Porsche offers two models equipped with a 7-speed Porsche Dual-Clutch Transmission (PDK) and a 6-speed manual transmission. With these transmissions, the top speed reaches 320 km/h (318 km/h with PDK), faster than the previous 911 GT3 RS, and it accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.4 seconds.
Driver Lars Kern attempted a lap at the N?rburgring Nordschleife, where the 911 GT3 completed the 20.8 km course in 6 minutes 59.927 seconds. For comparison with the previous generation model, the 20.6 km section was completed in 6 minutes 55.2 seconds. Porsche ambassador J?rg Bergmeister commented, "It is the best production car I have ever driven."
The weight of the new 911 GT3 is similar to the previous model, with the manual transmission version weighing 1,418 kg and the PDK version 1,435 kg. Weight reduction was achieved through the rear seat space without seats, a carbon fiber reinforced plastic (CFRP) front bonnet, lightweight glass windows, optimized brake discs, and forged lightweight alloy wheels, all characteristic features of the 911 GT3. The combined fuel efficiency of the new 911 GT3 is 13.3 L/100 km (12.4 L/100 km with PDK).
Every detail of the new 911 GT3 reflects its racing DNA. The cockpit follows the current 911 model’s design while adding a track screen. When a button is pressed, information necessary for circuit driving such as tire pressure, oil pressure and temperature, fuel tank level, and coolant temperature is displayed on both sides of the central tachometer, which shows engine speed up to 10,000 rpm. It also includes a visual shift assistant that displays information with color bars and a shift light derived from motorsports.
Since Porsche GT models have high demand for personalized equipment, the 911 GT3 also offers GT3-exclusive options such as Porsche Exclusive Manufaktur products and a carbon fiber lightweight roof.
