[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Yoo Deok-yeol, Mayor of Dongdaemun District, participated on the 15th in the “Thank You, Essential Workers” campaign supporting essential workers.
The “Thank You, Essential Workers” campaign is a relay campaign to encourage and support healthcare, social welfare, care services, sanitation, security, and delivery workers who continue face-to-face labor despite the risk of COVID-19 infection.
Mayor Yoo Deok-yeol posted a photo on his SNS holding a handwritten sign that read, “Thank you. Fighting, Essential Workers!”
Mayor Yoo participated in this campaign upon the nomination of Yoo Sung-hoon, Mayor of Geumcheon District, and nominated Kim Cheol-hoon, Mayor of Yeongdo District, and Park Seung-won, Mayor of Gwangmyeong City, as the next participants.
Mayor Yoo Deok-yeol of Dongdaemun District stated, “Thanks to nursing care workers, care teachers, delivery workers, bus drivers, and sanitation workers, we can maintain a healthy daily life and practice social distancing,” adding, “We appreciate the dedication of essential workers and will take the lead in improving their working conditions together with Seoul City and the government.”

Last December, Dongdaemun District supported 2,300 transportation and delivery workers with 71,000 masks and 2,300 hand sanitizers to ensure the health and safety of essential workers who come into contact with many people and expressed gratitude for their hard work.
