Homeplus Munhwa Center Increases Online Courses by 600%
840 Online Classes Offered for Spring Semester Cultural Center
Interactive Video Classes, Real-Time and VOD Reflecting Non-Face-to-Face Trends
[Asia Economy Reporter Yuri Kim] The era of 'online cultural centers' has dawned as the untact (contactless) trend becomes part of everyday life.
Homeplus announced on the 16th that it will expand its online courses, first introduced last year, from 140 to 840?a 600% increase?during the Homeplus Cultural Center spring semester running from March 2 to May 26. This move aims to alleviate the disappointment of face-to-face activities and provide a safe learning environment.
This spring semester's online classes will be conducted through interactive video lessons, real-time lectures, and VOD services. Using the online video conferencing platform Zoom and YouTube, participants can join classes live, and some courses are also available via VOD services without time or location constraints.
First, Homeplus has signed an exclusive business agreement with the online education platform Smallbig Class to strengthen children's educational content. Homeplus stated that this is meaningful as it secures online content and excellent instructors and plans to expand offline education hubs by utilizing Homeplus spaces for public lectures and small group activities in the future.
The collaborative courses debuting this spring semester with Smallbig Class include ▲ "Elementary Inquiry Life" by Seoul National University mentors Mini & Moony ▲ "30 Minutes a Day Elementary Meditation & Pilates" by Teacher Kongcha ▲ "Elementary Compressed Study Method" by author Jo Seung-woo ▲ "Elementary Humanities Thinking Map through BTS and K-POP" by humanities scholar Yoo Sang-geun.
They have also planned themed courses titled "YouTube Star Instructors and 2021 Learning and Economic Planning for Our Children," delivering content on new semester study methods and children's financial education via YouTube live broadcasts. Representative courses include ▲ author Jo Seung-woo's "Small Success Experiences in Learning and Revealing English Secret Notes" ▲ humanities scholar Yoo Sang-geun's "Elementary Humanities Reading and English Learning" ▲ YouTuber Jeon In-gu's "Stocks You Must Buy for Your Children in 2021."
Exclusive to Homeplus Cultural Center are "Direct Lectures by CEOs," such as ▲ Park Su-jin, CEO of Alice Ballet's "Special Know-how from a Ballerina Mom! Moms Must Be Beautiful to Raise Beautiful Children" ▲ Lee Woon-jung, CEO of Delicious Speech's "A Mom's Speaking Builds a Child's Confidence."
Meanwhile, as part of the 'Save the Earth' eco-friendly campaign in collaboration with the Homeplus e-Paranjae Foundation, an online homeschooling course titled "Making Eco-friendly Coffee Planters Where Sprouts Grow" has also been prepared.
Since March 4, recruitment for the spring semester members at 122 Homeplus Cultural Centers nationwide has begun. MyHomeplus membership holders who apply for the monthly cultural center program receive a 10% discount (up to 10,000 KRW), and new members get a 10,000 KRW discount on tuition fees (applicable to regular courses only).
