The relay donation campaign, initiated by Sagun-dong chief Lee Jeong-hee, has seen voluntary participation from resident autonomy committee members, neighborhood leaders, and neighboring religious organizations such as Seongmin Church and Hongik Church. Currently, they are awaiting the 16th relay donor.
The relay donation in Sagun-dong is carried out by creating small pink boxes where items are placed. This method allows easy donations as long as there is a willingness to give, without requiring large quantities or expensive items. In fact, donations of essential daily items such as ramen, gim (seaweed), hand sanitizers, and toilet paper have been continuously received.
Moreover, this relay donation is meaningful in that it is not a donation campaign independently run by the authorities. Instead of pre-selecting recipients and distributing items uniformly, local volunteer groups who closely observe residents take the lead in selecting and delivering donated items to residents who can use them effectively based on the incoming donations.
For example, when a volunteer who frequently visits grandmother Kim ○○, remembering her graying hair, delivered hair dye and a fruit package, she smiled brightly saying, "Thanks to this, I feel ten years younger."
This donation campaign, which has seen contributions from various sectors, includes not only resident and religious groups but also gatherings of Sagun-dong residents. Understanding the high proportion of elderly living alone in the area, residents prepared assorted jeon (Korean pancakes) to give to seniors who would spend the Lunar New Year alone.
Grandfather Lee ○○, who received the assorted jeon, said, "Living alone, I often forget the holidays, but receiving this warm jeon makes this Lunar New Year feel less lonely," expressing his gratitude.
Also, Kim ○○, who received snacks and drinks donated by Dasom Daycare in the area, said, "With the extended time at home due to COVID-19, living expenses have been a concern, but the children will really enjoy this," happily embracing the package.

Jung Won-oh, Mayor of Seongdong-gu, stated, "Donation is not about giving something grand but sharing a precious heart," adding, "This campaign is meaningful because residents discover neighbors in need and voluntarily participate in donations." He further added, "I hope this spirit of togetherness becomes the first step in creating a living community in the city."
