Gwangju City Lowers Social Distancing to Level 1.5... Strong Action Against Violating Businesses
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yoon Jamin] Gwangju Metropolitan City will lower social distancing to level 1.5 starting from the 15th, but plans to respond strongly to violations of quarantine guidelines.
Park Hyang, Director of the Welfare and Health Bureau of Gwangju City, stated in a COVID-19 briefing on the 15th, "The core of this distancing is a shift towards businesses practicing self-compliance," and added, "If quarantine rules are violated, not only will fines be imposed, but strong legal measures will also be taken."
He continued, "For businesses with extended hours or lifted restrictions, associations or organizations should operate autonomous quarantine guideline compliance, inspection, and monitoring systems," emphasizing, "If these are violated, a two-week suspension of gatherings will be enforced, and claims for damages will also be considered."
Gwangju City plans to cooperate with autonomous districts and the police as necessary to conduct guidance and inspections.
In particular, before the Lunar New Year holiday, the city conducted focused inspections on 83 music video rooms.
