Changwon City Begins Ensuring Safety of Vulnerable Facilities During Thaw Period Starting from the 16th
Safety Inspections Conducted on 352 Vulnerable Sites Including Steep Slopes, Retaining Walls, and Stone Walls
An official from Gokseong-gun, Jeollanam-do, is conducting safety accident prevention activities in preparation for the thawing season.
View original image[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Saeyan] Changwon City, Gyeongnam Province, will conduct safety inspections starting from the 16th on vulnerable facilities such as steep slopes, retaining walls, stone walls, and construction sites where safety accidents are a concern during the thawing season.
The inspection targets a total of 352 locations, including 232 steep slopes with a high risk of rockfall accidents, 61 retaining walls and stone walls, 29 construction sites, and 30 other locations.
The main inspection items include checking for abnormalities in slope facilities for steep slopes, cracks and bulging conditions in retaining walls and stone walls, the possibility of rockfall occurrence and collapse, and for construction sites, checking for subsidence, cracks, and deformation of temporary structures during excavation or earth retaining work.
The city will immediately address minor issues on-site and conduct detailed safety diagnoses for high-risk cases to promote repairs and reinforcements.
Additionally, the city will utilize the safety management advisory group to conduct joint public-private inspections and designate management officers for each vulnerable facility to strengthen the effectiveness of safety management.
They will also check the establishment of emergency contact networks and the maintenance of cooperation systems with related organizations to review the situation management status and prepare a rapid response system in case of disaster occurrence.

Choi Youngcheol, Director of the Safety, Construction, and Transportation Bureau, said, "As the thawing season approaches, safety management of facilities such as cut land and retaining walls is necessary," adding, "We will do our best to prevent safety accidents through thorough inspections and prompt maintenance."
